Reverence in Worship

"Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words."
Ecclesiastes 5:1-3

I wanted to share this sermon from our prayer meeting last night. It was a good reminder for me of what a great God we serve, and what a privilege it is to meet together and worship Him. This quote from the sermon stayed with me, it seems so obvious, yet something we forget......"We come to worship thinking we come to hear preaching, sing, pray, and fellowship, and those things are all very important, but the first and foremost thing we are doing whenever we come to public worship is to meet with God Himself."

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them."
Matthew 18:20

"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
Isaiah 55:6,8-1
