Seventeen years of memories...

Happy 17th Birthday to Dixie-Does Alpines! I remember 17 years ago this morning we brought home our first two dairy goat kids in the back of our family station wagon. Well my mom drove us, we were all too young to drive in those days:-). It's been over a year since I've seen the goats, they now live on my sister's farm in Tennessee, but I have so many good memories of the years of working together with my siblings on our herd, milking, showing, making breeding, buying and selling decisions, middle of the night kiddings....Maybe someday goats will be in my future again but for now I'll just remember, and enjoy not being tied down by a miking schedule!

Filling the hay barn with a winter supply of hay.

An old picture of me (5 years ago) milking our first Grand champion doe, Monalisa.

  1. I've been up at night with baby feedings nursing my little ones not with goats :) It sounds like you have alot of fun memories with all the joys of living on the farm! Thanks for sharing on NOBH!

"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
Isaiah 55:6,8-1
