As we prepare for communion season this weekend these thoughts from Andrew Bonar's Diary on his communion seasons, are on my mind.....
"I sometimes think that to the Lord's people dying will be very like going to the Communion Table. There is a little anxiety and sometimes a little bustle, about the going in to the table; but that is soon over, and all is calmness, and we do nothing else but keep looking upon the Lord."
"John did not rise up from the table because there was a doubt about himself and his steadfastness. He leaned all the harder on his Master's bosom."
"However weak you are if you value supremely the atoning blood, come to the Table."
"At the communion table remember Him and forget yourself."
"Jesus is walking today among the seven golden candlesticks and He will stop at our table to see if any of us want anything from Him."
"Christ's nearer coming casts deeper solemnity over every communion."
