Being sifted.....

Today I wanted to share our sermon from yesterday on these verses from Luke 22:
"And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren."

It encouraged and helped me so much. I've felt like I've been going through some sifting myself recently and it was so encouraging to be reminded that nothing can happen to us unless if the Lord allows it. Satan had to ask to sift Peter - he couldn't just do what he wanted. Then that the whole time Jesus was praying for him - and for you - and for me. Lastly that the sifting was for his good, it would strengthen him to be able to help and encourage others. It made me think of the verse from Job, "When he has tried me I shall come forth as gold."

"If I could hear Christ praying for me in the next room, I would not fear a million enemies. Yet distance makes no difference. He is praying for me"

Intense Debate Comments

"Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."
Isaiah 55:6,8-1
